Quark Expeditions reported that guests aboard its ships Ultramarine and Ocean Explorer viewed the August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse from Harefjord, an inner branch of Scoresbysund in East Greenland, close to the center of the path of totality. Totality lasted about two minutes and 15 seconds, the first such event visible in the region since 2015, and was accompanied by expert astronomers and photography guides aboard both vessels.
The voyages combined Arctic expedition travel with astronomical programming, including onboard lectures from eclipse specialists David Baron and Michael Zeiler, and a new Guided Photography Program to help travelers capture the event and surrounding landscape. The release highlights Quark's positioning as a long-running polar-focused operator and the remote Greenland fjord setting as a distinctive feature for eclipse-chasing travelers.
