Polar diving is expedition diving at its most extreme: drysuit descents along ice walls and kelp forests, with leopard seals and curious penguins as possible company. Operators require documented drysuit or cold-water experience — this is not a learn-on-holiday activity.
Polar snorkelling, offered by a few ships, is the accessible alternative: a thick wetsuit or drysuit, a guided float over shallows and ice, no certification needed.
