Zodiac cruising is the workhorse of every expedition: rigid inflatables that put you metres from icebergs, hauled-out seals and feeding whales, and reach shorelines no ship can approach. Cruises alternate with landings, typically twice a day, and are included in every fare.

Waterproof trousers and boots (usually loaned on board) are all you need; drivers double as naturalist guides.
