Der Seeleopard ist nach dem Seeelefanten die zweitgrößte Robbenart der Antarktis – lang, muskulös und mit einem gefleckten, leopardenartigen Fell. Als Spitzenprädator der Region jagt er Pinguine, Fische und sogar andere Robben entlang der Eiskante.
Tierwelt
Benannt nach dem dünnen schwarzen Band unter seinem Kinn, wirkt der Zügelpinguin, als trage er einen Helm. Man hört ihn oft, bevor man ihn sieht: Er hat einen der lautesten, schrillsten Rufe aller Pinguine.
