One night on the ice is Antarctica's most atmospheric add-on: after dinner a small group is shuttled ashore with bivvy bags or tents, sleeps (or tries to) through the polar twilight, and returns before breakfast. Numbers are capped (often 30 per departure), it typically costs US$200–400, and it books out fast. Weather can cancel the night — fees are then refunded.
