What Antarctica Unlocked is
Antarctica Unlocked (antarcticaunlocked.com) is an independent directory that collects publicly listed Antarctic expedition cruise departures from operator and reseller websites and lets you search and compare them. We do not sell cruises, take bookings or handle payments: when you choose a departure, we redirect you to the operator's own website, which is governed by that operator's privacy policy.
What we collect
- Server logs. Like every website, our servers record the IP address, requested URL, browser type and time of each request. Logs are used to keep the service running and secure and are rotated automatically.
- Outbound clicks. Links to operators go through our redirect (
/go/…) so we can count how often a listing is used. The count is per listing, not per person. - Packing checklist. If you save a packing checklist, the ticked items are stored under a random share link. No name, email or account is attached to it.
- Analytics. We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which pages are used. We do not build individual profiles or sell data.
There are no user accounts on the public site and we never ask for payment details, identity documents or health information.
AI assistants and the MCP server
Antarctica Unlocked can be used from AI assistants (for example as a ChatGPT plugin or from Claude) through our Model Context Protocol server at /mcp. Requests from an assistant contain the search the assistant makes on your behalf (regions, dates, ship names, a voyage identifier) and the language to answer in. They do not contain your conversation, your name or your account with the assistant provider. We log the tool name, its arguments and how long the call took, for reliability and abuse prevention, and keep those logs for a limited time. Anything you type into the assistant itself is handled by that assistant's provider under its own policy.
Cookies
The public catalog sets no tracking cookies. A session cookie is used only in the back office, which is not available to the public. Your browser's local storage may hold your packing-list ticks and interface preferences; that data never leaves your device unless you explicitly save or share it.
Third parties
Photos on voyage and ship pages are loaded from the operators' own image servers, which may see your IP address when the image is fetched. Booking happens entirely on the operator's website.
Your rights
Because we hold no account data, most requests can be satisfied by clearing your browser storage. If you believe we hold personal data about you, or have any question about this policy, write to [email protected] and we will answer within a reasonable time.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service evolves; the date at the top reflects the latest revision.
