HX Expeditions has opened a special themed cabin, called the 1896 Cabin, aboard its polar expedition ship MS Fridtjof Nansen. The cabin marks the company's 130th anniversary of expedition cruising, referencing its first Arctic voyage from Norway to Svalbard in 1896. Designed with vintage maritime decor, reclaimed wood, a hidden bar and a custom scent, it recreates a late 19th-century explorer's cabin while retaining modern comforts.
The cabin is available as a one-night optional add-on, priced at €100 per person per night, on select 2026 sailings of MS Fridtjof Nansen, with a maximum of three guests per booking. Half of the profits go to the HX Foundation, supporting conservation, science and heritage projects, as part of a fleet-wide anniversary fundraising target. The space is also open for viewing by all guests on the ship, with historian talks on HX's early expedition history.
