Oceanwide Expeditions, a polar expedition cruise operator active in the Arctic and Antarctica, has released its first ESG report. The report covers initiatives such as fleet efficiency improvements, waste and plastic reduction, support for polar science and citizen research, and a rainforest restoration project in Brazil funded by guest participation. It also details the company's alignment with AECO and IAATO operating guidelines.
Looking ahead, the report highlights plans for two next-generation eco-sail expedition vessels, announced via a Letter of Intent in March, expected to join the fleet from 2029 with hybrid propulsion and energy storage systems. For travellers, the report signals the operator's ongoing focus on reducing environmental impact and supporting responsible, small-scale tourism in polar regions, without immediate changes to current itineraries or ships.
