Oceanwide Expeditions has confirmed that m/v Hondius has completed deep cleaning and disinfection in Rotterdam following a hantavirus incident linked to the vessel's prior voyage. Dutch health authority GGD inspected the ship on 29 May and cleared it on 30 May, confirming it is free from infection and contamination and fit to resume service. The ship will now undergo its annual survey and maintenance before departing for Longyearbyen on 6 June.
The vessel is scheduled to begin its first Arctic season voyage from Longyearbyen, Svalbard, on 13 June. Crew members present during the earlier voyage have disembarked and are in quarantine, with a full crew transition completed to ensure no contact with affected individuals. For travellers booked on upcoming Hondius departures, this update confirms the ship has been officially cleared and is on track to resume its planned Svalbard itinerary.
