Ein untersetzter Pinguin mit orangefarbenem Schnabel aus der Gattung Pygoscelis, eng verwandt mit Adélie- und Zügelpinguin. Sein lauter, trompetender Ruf mit zurückgeworfenem Kopf trägt weit über die Küstenkolonien, an denen Expeditionslandungen stattfinden.
Tierwelt
Benannt nach dem dünnen schwarzen Band unter seinem Kinn, wirkt der Zügelpinguin, als trage er einen Helm. Man hört ihn oft, bevor man ihn sieht: Er hat einen der lautesten, schrillsten Rufe aller Pinguine.
